Coverage on the move

Drive your patch. Map your reception.

Switch a box into roaming mode, put it in a car, and it becomes a drive-test rig. As you move, it logs off-air signal strength, error rate and audio quality against GPS — building a map of where your station comes through clean, where it fades, and where it drops out entirely.

  • Prove your coverage area to Ofcom, funders or advertisers
  • Find the black-spots before your listeners complain
  • Same hardware, GPS on every box — no extra kit

How the drive-test works

Three things, logged every second, pinned to where you were.

It's the same off-air receiver doing your compliance recording — just told to move. GPS is standard on every box, so every reading knows exactly where it was taken.

What it logs

Signal & audio, vs GPS

  • Signal strength & lockRF level and ensemble/service lock — the moment your service drops off the multiplex.
  • Bit-error rate (DAB)Rising errors mark where reception is getting ragged before it becomes audible.
  • Audio qualityDead air, dropouts and level — what a listener would actually hear at that spot.
  • GPS trackEvery reading time-stamped and pinned to a location, so the map is real, not guessed.
What you get

A map you can act on

  • Coverage mapYour route coloured green→amber→red, so strong areas and black-spots read at a glance.
  • Evidence for othersA concrete answer for Ofcom, funders or advertisers asking "where can people hear you?"
  • RepeatableDrive it again after a transmitter tweak and compare — did that change actually help?
  • No extra kitAny compliance box can roam. Battery pack, whip up, and go.

Roaming is a mode on the same unit you'd use fixed for compliance. See the hardware → · See a coverage drive worked through →
